I need a good software package that will creat an audit trail for when users read, write, create and delete files on our Windows 2000 file server. Any suggestions?

This functionality is actually built-in. Right click on the folder you wish to Audit and Select properties-->Security Tab-->Advanced-->Auditing. From there you can audit anything related for files/folders. You also have to make sure thay you have enabled auditing of object access in either your local security policy or through Group Policy.

I already tried that. It's not very usable data. I need something that I can view in Excel or Access so I can perform searches and run reports. I just found a program called SofTrack. It more for controlling application permissions and metering, but it does audit file usage.
