I would like to know what the appropriate syntax would be to allow incoming ports to Linux 7.1

On the Linux install i didnt select the option to allow trusted incoming ports.

Thank You.

If you are brand new to linux, you may find ipchains and iptables a little tuff to grasp. You may want to look into Lokkit which comes with most distros. It doesn't have all the features of ipchains but it's very easy to understand.

Lokkit asks you a series of questions to determine your firewall needs. then it takes those choices and applies rules to iptables that best match your needs. the problem with lokkit is there is only a few options. i suggest using lokkit then looking at the /etc/sysconfig/iptables file to see the exact rules it puts on your system.

most of the time you want to block all incoming ports and allow only the specific ones you want.

do a man iptables and look for the specific syntax. if you still need help let me know.
