Need to add forwarder to active directory DNS

We have a small self contained domain (30 computers) in a lab. This lab has it's DNS on a Solaris 9 server and all computers are static. Here is the problem, when users log into their computer it takes a few minutes to authenicate. The reason is that there are no workstations within the AD DNS because all that information is being hosted on the UNIX DNS. I think that I need to add a forwarder to the AD DNS I want to have AD search the other dns for computer information whenWe have a small self contained domain (30 computers) in a lab. Since it takes a few minutes to authenticate (so you are authenticating?) I am assuming that you have the preferred DNS set to the solaris box in your lab. Your alternate DNS setting is pointing to your DNS server in AD.

Sounds like your lab is just workstations, not a separate AD test environment. In that case I am not sure of the purpose of the Solaris DNS. On one of your workstation, change the Preferred DNS to point to the IP Address of your AD DNS. Logon time should be much quicker. Is this an option for you? If not please describe in more detail the evironment.
