Need Text Scroller with scrollbar

BTW, you do know that if you upgrade to Flash MX all you have to do is drag a scrollbar component onto your textfield ... don't you?

Actually no I didnt know that. I will be gettin Flash mx as soon as I can though.

But for now I am usin flash 5. When you make it, please be as simple as you can and if you could explain step by step how to build it. I am a beginner with the actionscript but I do know the basics pretty well.

Actually, I've just thought - do you want a draggable scroll bar? If so, I'm afraid that'll be a little more difficult. I can certainly send you the code for one, but I doubt you would be able to edit it yourself, and you WOULD need to edit it.

Would a scroll bar with active buttons be enough? I can rig it so that it loads text from a TXT file (aiding ease of updating), and when you click and hold a button it will start scrolling, then when you let go it stops.

How does that sound?

Actually yeah, a scroll-able text with just 2 buttons, maybe and up and a down arrow, would be good enough.

if you dont mind could u send me the code for a draggable scroll bar? i've been trying to make one but seems not to succeed. i get stuck in the calculation of the scrollable box according to its relation to current position and the number of lines of the text. I just need a code to start me up. I'll edit it where it needs adjustment. thanks!
