Just wondering if someone can look at my site fuzzySnake.com and see if I need improvements on my site.

Also, I have WMA audio files that plays well for most visitors on my site, but I've gotten an e-mail or two saying that they couldn't play my audio files. Any suggestions?

I get the following message for all of the links:

Well, it looks a little dull. The design isn't saying "telemarketing" to me - why have a picture of a screen & keyboard at the top and not a telephone? Or a hapless telemarketer tearing his/her hair out? Or something else appropriate to the theme of the site?

The whole experience is somewhat dissonant. You have a very sober visual design - restrained colours, minimal graphics, etc. But a lot of your copy is really informal - it's all "This dude calls and I'm like talking to this chick..." The two don't really work together for me.

If you want to stick with the wma files, you need to fix your links to them. At the moment you're using backslashes:
Code:
<a href="http:\\[URL unfurl="true"]www.fuzzysnake.com\recordings\R_U_Sad.WMA">Do[/URL] You Like Your Job?</a>
You need to use forward slashes (and don't need to repeat the domain name):
Code:
<a href="/recordings/R_U_Sad.WMA">Do You Like Your Job?</a>

However, if you want something that's a bit more widely accessible, consider a Flash player like
You'll wait forever for anybody to respond to your "advertise here" notices. If you want ads on your site, use a scheme like Google Adsense (if you go for Google, please sign up by clicking the button in the left column of - Google pays a small commission to my hiking club, and we need the money more than they do)

Also - minor point - don't underline text unless it's a link.

What button are you talking about? The only button in the left column is "GO" and clicking it takes one to a search page.

Thanks for the advice. My background is mainframe and crystal reports (database reporting) and I'm just getting web design.

Just wondering, did the audio files play well for you? There was a person that said he got an error msg while he tried to listen to the audio files on my site.

What button are you talking about?
The one at the bottom of the left hand column, it's not a proper button but an image that looks like one. It's labelled "Generate more revenue from your website. Google Adsense".

Did the audio files play well for you?
They did, but only after I'd looked at your markup to figure out the actual URLs of the sound files instead of the ones you entered on the page. Using \ instead of / breaks the links (in Firefox id oes, anyway). Also, I believe WMA is a windows-only format, so Mac and Linux users won't be able to hear them. A Flash player would be more interoperable.

No such image or wording. Here is what is at bottom of left hand column:

Strange.

It's displayed via Javascript (Google's idea, not mine), so if you've got JS switched off you won't see it. I suppose you might have some ad blocking going on too.

It's not worth losing sleep over though.

Not going to lose sleep over it for sure.

My pages are loaded with JS & they work. Don't have any blocking whatsoever here either, although sometimes I surely think about it.

It does seem kind of strange that Google would put up ads that are not visible to their potential clients.

I checked the page source and the Google JS is there, just not showing for some reason. Pulled up some of my pages and all of the JS there works. It must be something on this end, but I sure don't know why some JS would work and some wouldn't. Especially since all of the JS I see on your pages should work for anybody.

ChrisHunter:

Thanks for your advice...you've been a great help.

I did try one of the links to an audio file and it asks me what to open it with. It did give Windows Media as the default. I clicked ok and the audio played. Did you get the same thing w/ firefox?
