Hi,

I need some help on how to set up meet-me conference feature. Is there any step by step guide that I can look at? Systems is 406V2 with VM Pro.

One more thing I would like to find out is we have 8 CO lines coming into 406. When I try to use conference button on 5410 phones I can join only 2 external callers. From Avaya documentation I understand I can have maximum of only 2 external callers on Analog lines. The company that sold and installed the system to us insist that we can have as many number of external callers as the number of lines we have but told me that I need to use meet-me conference feature. What they said is right?

I would like to get some info on how to set up meet-me conference so i can test and contact them if it doesn't work.

Thanks in advance.

Follow this step-by-step and it will work for you. This if from 2003, and here is the statement:

• Analogue Line Restriction: In conferences that include external analogue line calls, only a maximum of two analogue line calls are supported.

I don't think this has changed, I installed a 406v2 w/ VMPro recently, with Conference MeetMe. I just had to explain that they can only add 2 external callers (they also have 8 analog lines).

CZ, Thanks for the link. I was able to setup the meet-me conferencing.

With meet-me I was able to get 4 external callers join in the conference. I am going to try 6 callers on Monday and will post here if it woks or not. Seems like with meet-me there is no limit of 2 external analogue line restriction.

With IPO you can have 128 parties in a conference. Two 64 party conferences, 4 32 party conferences, 8 16 party conferences etc etc etc.

I don't think the two external analog trunks limit is actively controlled by the IP Office. Its just, as far as I know, a stated support limit. Mainly because analog lines typically have additional background static compared to digits lines that ramps up the instances of conference problems unless your using dedicated conferencing kit rather than a general purpose phone switch. Basically Avaya avoiding support issues for which they can't do much - analog lines have static.
