I am using the form1.printform to print out my program data.
To prevent the screen from dumping we use a for next timing loop with vast numbers. This works fine except for the following. When the windows box indicating that printing is in progress comes up of course it is dead because there is no code and the computer is down in the timing loop. I feel there is a better way. Would also like to be able to cancel printing with the cancel button.

RSH, I mean no offense but it sounds like that program is an accident trying to find a way to happen. Look into the Printer object. PrintForm is just a quick and dirty way to print the contents of a form for debugging, etc.

Have used the printer object on occassion. The trouble with same is the necessity for yards of code. Printform is so easy.

Again, RSH, "easy" usually results in questions in the Tek-Tips forums. It is rare when an "easy" solution actually solves a problem. Start with the recommended methods and work your way to a solution. If there is an error after incorporating the "correct" code it will be much easier to seek the solution at Tek-Tips.

RSH,

Have you considered creating, from withing your VB app, a Word document and then printing that? It's an approach that's fairly widely used and allows you quite a bit of control pf how things will look. Thanks Mike:
Had not considered that. Sure is worth a try. Current code works quite well with only a few loose ends but I am always open to suggestion. The current form is quite complex and
I cant see writing printer code for all that stuff when a screen dump to printer works so well.
