OK, I just bought a WinTV card which has got a remote control. There is one spare button and I want to use this to shut down my computer. Anyone suggest a way of finding out what happens when and how to act upon a button being pressed on the control.

Failing that, how would I get VB to recognise that the Win TV window has been minimised. I can then just minimise the window (using the minimise button on the remote) to shutdown my computer.

Finally how do you actually shut a computer down (win2k) from VB. Do I have to use the API? If so could someone explain gently cos I know nothing about the API!

Thanks for ANY help

Justin

I would suggest that you purchase a Win32 API book. There are a LOT out there.

WIth it you can author code to "catch" the window event you are looking for.

Good luck! Steven Fowler, Principal
