We created a number of reports in Crystal Reports about a year ago and they worked fine until our IT department moved the underlying data (an Access97 database). Now they are sluggish or so slow that they never actually appear to pull up at all. A number of tests have shown that they work fine if we move the data back to the original location. IT thinks it's a problem with the way the reports are written, and we think it's a network problem (NT). IT will not take this any farther for us, but we are authorized to bring in a consultant to dignose the problem. Does anyone know of a good consulting firm in the Sunnyvale, CA area that might be able to help us out? I would appreciate any comments or suggestions. Thanks.

Sorry, I don't know of anyone specific in that area.

But, you may not need an on-site consultant to help you troubleshoot this. You may be able to have someone spend some time by phone walking you through some tests, or reviewing the report structure when sent via Emai. You most likely have some Crystal literate people on hand to facilitate the troubleshooting, when partnered with an expert.

One troubleshooting question. Have you tried creating new reports using the new location? How does the performance compare with the same new report in the old location. Ken Hamady

SuzQueue: Like Ken I think you can make progress before calling in the cavalry! There are various utilities available to enable you to determine performance across the network and it sounds like you need to condifer checking these out before assuming that it is CR at fault. As Ken suggests try developing a new report and see if you still get sluggish performance - if so then try 'cutting' the SQL query out of the report (Database/Show SQL Query) and run it through Microsoft Query - if no change then definitely the network.
