Hi,

I have been given the task to setup a small insurance company with VPN. The company consists of 10 employess and 3 of those employees need to access the server from offsite. I have read articles on how to setup a server with VPN and somewhat understand how to do it. My question is should the company have a firewall if they are going to implement VPN. If not are there security risks? If we should have a firewall can you point me to some easy to use ones that would be easy to implement with VPN? I am mainly a programmer and am not a pro at this type of stuff and have never used a firewall. Any articles or how to documentation you could point me to would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Yes you will definately need a firewall.
Kerio winroute pro is fairly cheap and has VPN support - it can also double as their mail server and internet sharing system too!
