Does anybody know of a usable, freeware packet sniffer? Or perhaps a reasonably priced shareware sniffer? I've had several occasions while on the line with Cisco where I needed a sniffer but don't really wand to dole out several hundred dollars.

Thanks,

NAI has a nice sniffer called snifferpro...You should be able to find it on the internet.

Check this out...

We have the NAI Sniffer 3.5 but the unix team has been toying with this program to give us a second sniffer with paying the big bucks for another licence for the NAI program.

It is pretty slick for a free program.

One thing I have noticed with some Cisco Engineers....they claim that they must have a sniffer trace to cont.(but if you get your case requed the next guy can fix it without- go figure) and then when you actually have a sniffer and ask them what it is that they want a trace of, or what should be looked at, they talk ya in a circle and you never really get a straight answer.

Good luck and let me know what you think of that program.
