My client uses Paradox to manage a huge database on which he runs queries. When this is multiplied by thousands it takes too long and he doesn't have enough computers to run them all. I'm looking for a Paradox programmer who could take these queries and write them as a script to facilitate faster completion of tasks through approx. 400k records.

If your client is running the queries the script is 80% written for him, and it's mostly just a copy and paste job to combine the queries into any number of scripts.

Each query opened in a text editor will give access to the OPAL required for the script with little or no modification required. It is then just a case of calling the queries in the order required, if your client is already running things manually the order is defined.

A bit of an aside but, we run our scripts over-night on a windows scheduled task.

I may have misunderstood what your looking for so I'll stop here but if it sounds like what your client requires let me know and I will provide any further details you require.

Regards

Steve

Cybermike,

Not to put a damper on anything Steve said, but it is possible that you could speed up the process significantly by replacing the queries with TCursor/index based approaches, such as setRange's and so on.

I have done this sort of work before and, if you still need some help with it, can be reached at the e-mail on my profile.
