Guys pls help me!

I have a report in Cognos Query that shows records with duplicates. The customer wants to see another report based on this report that shows all duplicates grouped together. This needs to be done on Cognos Upfront.

Can anyone assist me in doing this?

Thanks
Pradeep

Pradeep,

This is done by creating a report that groups at what should be the lowest level of detail and has a column of the COUNT for this grouping. The duplicate only report would contain a filter of COUNT > 1. The report that shows all rows, but groups the duplicates together would have a column containing one of two results (i.e. 0 or 1) for the conditions of COUNT = 1 or COUNT <> 1. This would group the rows into two groups, those with duplicates and those without.

Hope this helps,

Thanks a ton for ur suggestion. The customer got back to me with requirement slightly changed with previous one. The customer now needs to have duplicates grouped together in the same report. They dont want to have another report as i mentioned earlier

How can we do this? I would appreciate if you guide me through complete step by step process to do this if possible.

I appreciate your response.

Thanks
Pradeep

Use a calculation-column defined as "COUNT(rows)" for the grouped item. Then 'filter' this column as either >1 to select them, or sort (desc) on this column to put them to the top of your report.
This option is sometimes "finnecky" and you may need to "COUNT(<column-to-the-right-of-the-grouped-item>)" and ASSOCIATE this calculated-column to the grouped item. Then just filter is as needed.

Thanks! i guess it should work but i have a worry. Since i'm working on Cognos Upfront there is no option of ASSOCIATE to associate calculated column to grouped item. How should i do this in Cognos Upfront

Appreciate ur response!

Thanks
Pradeep
