I am in charge of setting up a web based knowledge base system for my company (a small software development company) Unfortuneately there are very few that are easily found on the internet.

My preference is for one that is run on SQL 2000, but MySql could be dealt with. Most importantly I need it to be inexpensive (always a catch). I could never swing more than $1000, but less than $200 or free would be great - err perfect.

If the said system also had a forum that would be nice added benefit.

Thanx in advance
I need some help here. I have to get this going and am kinda lost.

Have you looked at PHProjekt? ( It probably has more than you want, but it's a start. And if you run it with MySQL or PostgreSQL, the cost would be a nice $0. I've also read a couple of favorable reviews of the software.

I found it in a Google search query: "knowledge base" forum "open source". There may be others there that interest you.
