I'm looking for the best software to create a backup "snap shot" of a computer's OS + Programs + Data for a quick restore. I believe Norton Ghost does this, but it's somewhat expensive. I need the program to backup a laptop used to run a home business. The laptop OS is Win Xp. On 3 occassions a Windows update has crashed the system, and no repairs have worked to restore the system to its previous state. When this occurs I've had to reinstalling the OS, re-install the multitude of programs used to run the business, and then dump the data back in. Needless to say, this isn't something I want to do a 4th time.

Software suggestions are greatly appreciated! I'd be willing to pay for Norton Ghost if it's the best out there & will do what I need.

Thanks!!

For free, I'd suggest clonezilla. It's a linux live cd that might not be as user friendly as you might like, but it's quite functional. For very good, but not free, Acronis True Image is ideal.

Drive Snapshot is my personal favourite for small businesses and home use. Its easy to use

The Trialware version has a built-in time limit of approx. 30 days, after which it won't backup any longer. There are no other restrictions in the Trialware version.

If, after testing it, you decide to purchase Drive Snapshot, the cost is EUR 39.- for the SNAPSHOT Workstation License Email Version.

Please note: I do not have any personal interest in Drive Snapshot. I simply like the software for its ease of installation, ease of use, and its more than reasonable cost for small business and home use.

Hope this helps.
