Need PHP Form to keep values when using back button

A user enters information into a form and then clicks submit.

preg_match checks the form to ensure the data format is correct. If it finds an error it displays a message stating that there was an error.

The user then clicks the back button in order to return to the form and correct the information.

However, when they click the back button the form comes up with the default values (as if they were starting a new form). How can I keep the user entered data in the form so that the user can correct the error.

Instead of having the user click the back button, have PHP produce the form again, only this time with values populated with the user's previous input. Want the best answers? Ask the best questions:
