Need Oracle 8.1.7 Client for Intel

Does anyone know where I could get a copy of the Intel client for Oracle 8.x.x? I need to put it on a server to be able to access both a 7.3 server and 9.x server. (I assume that 7.3 client cannot talk to 9.x server and 9.x client cannot talk to a 7.3 server - please correct me if I am wrong about that!)

Your presumptions all seem reasonable to me. (I just don't have an Oracle 7.3 db to test your assertion.)

Have you checked either Oracle Technology Network (OTN) or Metalink for a downloadable 8.1.x client?

With as much Oracle infrastructure as it sounds like you have, I would presume that you have a MetaLink account. If so, I would contact them and ask the best source for downloading a client install.

If worse comes to worst, and they don't have anything for you, there are many of us out here that still have our original 8.1.x install CDs that we could offer some help if Oracle gives authorises us to provide you with the help.
