I'm really not sure what I'm doing. My client asked me to add some additional plain html pages to his website. When I downloaded all the files I found that the .fla file was not there ( and the original 2004 programmer has gone walkabout). So I purchased Eltima Decompiler to recreate the .fla but I can't figure out how the site has been created.

I need to leave the existing flash site as is except there is one word on the menu bar which doesn't do anything and I want to convert it to a link to an html page. The menu bar seems to be inside a Sprite 31 but any time I click on the symbols there, the actions just say " Current selection cannot have actions applied to it" so it is difficult to even find where the actions are applied.

When I look in Eltima Decompiler I can see the list of buttons - I can see the scripts which are mailto links, 4 which are rollover and play and are the current buttons and 3 which just say gotoAndStop. I am not sure if one of those latter ones represent the button I am trying to change or whether the text is not actually a button and I need to create a new button.

I'm sure it shouldn't be this complicated. Can you help?

Hi oldnewbie,

I'm not sure what I did - after spending hours trying to locate the bits I was looking for, I'd saved 5 different versions of the file. I uploaded one version with a test button on it, and suddenly discovered that it worked properly. I created a new layer and placed a box with some text over the menu location, then applied a button on top and somehow managed to get the script right. I amazed myself. It's probably all in the wrong spot but it works correctly and it looks as if it was always there.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
