Have been using Crystal for several years now, and am the resident guru for sales reporting. However, we have new and greater needs for detailed analysis, especially from a corporate perspective in our multi-org company. In addition, our intra-company coding leaves much to be desired, as for consistency across orgs. I have a program that attempts to summarize sales, as much as one can summarize a company of our size; it (the program) has twelve formulae summarized in each of six groups, so that we can drill-down if needed. My annual sales extract has 500k records per year that I must massage. My many formulae equate to a 12 page Word document, with one formula being 5 pages itself. The program works fine for a small time frame - one month, one quarter. Beyond that it takes up to six hours to run, even on the APS, and an hour to load for viewing and data confirmation. I am currently running a PII w/ 96mb RAM and 6 GB HD. My IT advises that a bigger machine may help some, but not that much. In addition, once I create and run these reports, theyt must be communicated to end users. We currently use web browsers to view many reports, but some of mine are too large for our browsers. ANY IDEAS? Does Seagate have a more robust product? Appreciate any and all comments. Thanks.
