Hi -

I have posted in the Delphi forum regarding this problem, thought I would just see if anyone knew an alternative method. The problem is (as you will know) that Interbase needs the server name and LOCAL path to the database file in order to connect (at least in TCP/IP.)

Im just wondering if anyone could perhaps shed any light on how I can obtain the local path from a remote machine? Or is there another method ?

Here is a link to my other post if its any use:

Anyway, anyhelp woul be very much appreciated.

Cheers..

OK - so Im answering my own posts now ;-). Just thought it may be interesting to note that there is an update (for those interested.)

Firstly a correction to my original post. I am now using NETBEUI to connect and so the connection string is slightly different from the TCP version.

I have actually had to create a post-install program that creates an ini file on the installation dir - this records the local info needed to connect. I then get my program to read in this info an add it to the connection string for the database. Bit messy - but it seems to work fine.

If anyone does know how to obtain the local path info using the API - I would still be interested.

Cheers...

Opp.
