I have a crosstab which summarizes five different fields - charges, payments, cancellations, professional charges, and volume. Is there anyway to put labels in front of the summarized field? This is how I would like it to look:

200202 200203 200204
FamMed
CHGS $1000 $1200 $1250
PMTS $ 300 $ 325 $ 200
CANC $ 800 $ 545 $ 236
PCHGS $ 900 $ 950 $1000
VOL 10 15 20

This is how it looks right now:
200202 200203 200204
FamMed $1000 $1200 $1250
$ 300 $ 325 $ 200
$ 800 $ 545 $ 236
$ 900 $ 950 $1000
10 15 20

Thanks for any ideas you have!

Go to format crosstab->highlight your row field (FamMed)->group options->customize group name->use a formula as a group name->x+2 and enter:

{table.yourrowfield}+chr(13)+"Chgs"+chr(13)+"Pmts"+chr(13)+"Canc"+chr(13)+"Pchgs"+chr(13)+"Vol"

In preview mode, make sure the row label is stretched vertically to reveal all row labels. Be sure to refresh the report--the new labels will not appear until you have done so.

Thanks for the help! I'm sure I'm slow today - but can you help me understand where I should be putting the formula? I went to Format Crosstab -> but I didn't see anything that would allow me to highligh. I also tried to right click on the row field and find Group Options, but I didn't see tha anywhere on the right click menu or under Format Crosstab.

Sorry! It's probably right in front of me - just need someone to point me in the right direction!

Thanks again!

Go to format crosstab and select your row field. When you do this, you will see a box to the right called "Group Options" become available (it is otherwise grayed out). Click on this and at the bottom you will check "Customized Group Name" and then also check "Use a Formula as a Group Name" and then click on the x+2 box on the right and enter the formula there. At least, this is the layout for CR 8.0.

Got it!! I'm on v9.0 so it is a bit different - sorry for the confusion.

I now get the right labels, but they aren't aligned with the data ...

RowField label $1000 $1500 $2000
Chgs $ 500 $ 550 $ 600
Pmts $ $ $
etc ...

Anyway to get the summarized fields to shift down one row?

Thanks for the help!

In the crosstab, add another summary field that is a count of your rowfield, and drag this so that it is the topmost summary field. Then in preview mode, right click on this new summary->format field->common->check "suppress."

This will suppress the summary that is in the same row as the rowfield label, but its presence will force the other summaries to display in line with your labels.

Here is an easy solution that works with any version.

Use Currency formatting.

Right Click on the field inside the crosstab, and select Format. Use Customize on the number tab, and tick Cuurency, select a position so the label appears on the left and it's "fixed" rather than "Floating". Replace the $ with CHGS $.

Repeat on the second field with a currency value of PMTS $, etc.
