Hello,
I am not the main admin on site for Nortel and so we have things in place that I did not setup and so I have very little or no knowledge about how things were set up. One of these things would be the Nortel PC Client. Now this appears to be a good product however I have a few issues with them but I don't know how they work so am finding trouble shooting a problem. I have tried and tried to search but nothing comes back. The problem is the TEL team have so much going on that when I try to engage them about the issues of the software they don't have the time and they a based in a different country etc.
so the simple case that I have on my own set up is that I have the PC client installed but it never rings on my laptop. I am running in converged mode. I'd love to understand how it connects me to my extension , the 2050PC's made more sense to me.
The first question then is does anyone know why my desk phone rings but my PC client never does even though outgoing calls are fine.
Thanks

is the 2050 set up to ring? post the TN up first and let us go from there.

Hey,
Thanks for the response. The problem I have is that these are no longer done as 2050pc extensions so there must be a magical 'communications server' somewhere that I don't get to see.
Does this help at all?
Thanks either way :)

Haha;

Yeah. This information would be stored on the Communication Server in which your Telco team would have access to at your internal department. Your best bet is asking as mentioned above, directly from your telco team, a printout of your TN and DN.

Hope this helps.

The TN will keep people from guessing whats wrong. it will show right away if the line on the 2050 is even programmed to ring or not ring, thats the first step to troubleshoot this.

We can sit around all day guessing if you really want but it won't get you very far lol

Hey guys thanks for the replies. The problem that I have is that this DN is not configured as a 2050. The DN only has one entry and that is as an 1140, this is the desk phone.

The DN is

does this help anyway?

cheers

If that is your desk phone then your 2050 must have a different DN on it.

Since you can make outgoing calls from the 2050, call your 1140 and see what number comes up on display!
