I have this firewire enclosure, will work in win xp pro with 40 gig maxtor but not the west dig 120 gig i first tried on it.
So it works, but i'd like to find the brand name and get a firmware update for it and drivers for 98se if needed, as i would like to install this to a win98se box i keep going for a printer and scanner.

Outside casing: Outside casing is opaque plastic, almost clear, and its got 4 blue-grey rubber feet on it.

Front:
Front is opaque grey, kind of like a light black even, with a clear on/off button on it on the right hand side.

Inside casing is metal, top slides off with some effort.

Back:
Left to right is: power, then fan, then two firewire connectors, then 2 audio connectors(chrome with white and red inserts)
It also says "FAN" right in the middle of the fan (I know, duuhh)

Numbers:
on the back: 0147 OWCMFW5R (the 5 could even be a S maybe)
stickers on back: made in China CE
Inside: TT 535FX10147HC1K0017 also 911R1.0

On the green board that services the ide connector: 000B533 290601 01281 3537-2053
This board has only very small capacitors and even smaller chips on it.

There is another green board, thats the one with the big caps on it, its got a piece of metal covering it and i would have to take it all apart to read some numbers, except i got this:
MODEL: APD-9507-P5 I think this may only be a winding, possibly, but its got its own plastic covering, the shrink type sort of.

I found a sticker tucked way down inside and under and peeled it off. This gave me: REXON TECHNOLOGY CORP
google gave me this: This gave me part # CA-805PFW1
The part number led in turn to only one place, here:

I emailed them, they returned my email but will give no info at all, all they can do is order a new one for me and wont give me a bit of info at all.
Code: CA-805PFW
they are in new york INWOOD NY toll-free 1-888-437-3329

It appears that it is the oxford 911 chipset, which i have heard is the best. If i recall when i installed it in win xp it said it was an oxford 911
Now i need to know if win98se will install this on its own or do i have to find the win 98se drivers for it.
Plus, i would still like to find the name of this drive so i can try and find a firmware update so i can use a larger hard drive.
So does anyone recognize this enclosure and can they give me any more info?
thanks

it looks pretty close to the one i have. Course most of them do anyway, not to be rude about it, appreciate all the help i can get!
Wish they had a pic of the back of it then i could tell for sure.
You see those 4 white marks, well mine are same except they are a grey-blue.
What i need to do is try this in a win98se system to see if 98se will install it or not, thats what i need to know.
And why didnt it show the 120 gig hard drive in win xp pro, it showed the 40 gig no problem, not the 120, i went to dev mgr and its there but in services there is no h drive with the 120 gig.
So this may not be the one i have since it wont handle the 120 gig h drive. Shouldnt make a difference that the h drive has not been formatted yet. To save you a question, i tried master and cable select on the h drive.
