What do I need to do to get the ER at 192.168.254.254 to communicate with the WR at 192.168.1.1? I know I probably need to create a static route between the 2 routers but am not quite sure how to do that. My networking skills aren’t the best!
==========================================================
Network Description:
WR = Wireless Router - 192.168.1.0 (Management IP 192.168.1.1 – DHCP enabled).
ER = Ethernet Router - 192.168.254.0 (Management IP 192.168.254.254 – DHCP disabled).
WR and cable modem located in one room.
ER and computers located in another room. Distance between routers is about 20 feet.
Ethernet port of cable broadband modem connected to Ethernet port of WR.
Cat5e TP cable from WR port 1 to ER port 3. Routers connected to get establish/verify communications.
ER has a Print Server port.
When ER and WR are connected via TP Ethernet cable, wireless connection stops working.

Following computers are located in the same room. Want to connect them to ER to utilize Print Server Port.
Compaq Presario 5716 desktop with Fedora 10 Linux NIC connected to ER port 1 (Ethernet only)
Dell Precision M4300 laptop with Windows HP (Ethernet and wireless)
Gateway 840GM desktop with Window XP (Ethernet and wireless)

Compaq Presario 5716 NIC IP 192.168.254.1
Dell Precision M4300 NIC IP 192.168.254.2
Gateway 840GM NIC 192.168.254.3

Hmm, are you trying to get Internet connectivity at the ER location? I'm thinking you need to have this connection instead:

WR port 1 to ER WAN.

No, I am not trying to get Internet connectivity at the ER location. My goal is to have my 3 computers connected to the ER to ftp files between the servers and to utilize the Print Server port.

When I have my 3 computers connected to the ER at 192.168.254.1, 192.168.254.2, and 192.168.254.3 (with no Ethernet connection between the ER and WR) my WiFi connection with my DHCP IP assignments (usually 192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.101) stop working. So, for some reason, it seems the static IP’s assigned for the ER are stepping on my DHCP IP’s causing the WiFi connection to stop working.

I connected the ER to the WR for troubleshooting purposes. My thought was if I have the ER and WR connected, I should be able to ping 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.254.254 and get replies from both. However I get a reply from 192.168.254.254 but not 192.168.1.1 which tells me a static route most likely needs to be configured so the 2 routers can talk to each other and prevent the static IP’s and DHCP IP’s from stepping each other.

Yeah, I think if you're using 2 routers, you'd definitely need to have static IPs setup for everything. That's just a guess, but it makes sense. If you have dynamic on one, and static on the other, eventually the dynamic will end up creating a duplicate address of one of the static IPs, and just cause a mess. [wink]

What would the command be to add a route to the 192.168.1.0 destination network from the 192.168.254.0 source network. Both networks are configured with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.
