Hello,

Running Netware 3.12. Went to boot the server and it loads as normal up to a point that then I get the following on the screen:

Mounting Volume SYS
Mirror copies of the volume directory don't match
Volume SYS NOT mounted

I then get a prompt that says "File server name:" followed by a flashing cursor. Nobody is able connect to the server.

I know nothing about Netware. I had one guy tell me I needed to run the VREPAIR utility and something else about enabling options for MAC and long files names if I have those options. I doubt seriously if we have the MAC option as there are no Macs on our network. I also don't know if we have long file names on this server or not. This is an old Pentium II server with a 40 gig SCSI hard drive.

Can someone give me a step by step for checking to see if I have these options and how to run VREPAIR from the "File server name:" prompt? Thanks.

William

Just put in your file server name when prompted.. Then put in a random 8 character HEX number at the next prompt

After that, do a LOAD VREPAIR, Repair volume.. pick SYS if prompted.

This will probably fix it. If not, post back any challenges.
