Hey guys I have a CME system at my small business and I am now in need to translation rules because my internal 3 digit numbering plan conflicts with some area codes in the US.

I want users to have a dial a 9 then the 10 digit phone number for local calls.
I also want users to have dial a 9 then 1 then the 10 digit number for long distance.
However my provider will only accept the 10 digit phone number for both local and long distance calls.

Any help is appreiciated.

This wouldn't be a Translation Rule issue. It is a dial-peer setting.

Here is a sample:

dial-peer voice 1 pots
destination-pattern 9[2-9].........
port X/X/X
forward-digits 10

dial-peer voice 2 pots
destination-pattern 91..........
port X/X/X
forward-digits 11

No, I am using VOIP dial peers to a sip trunk. I must use translation rules as the prefix command the stripping the first digits from the destination-pattern command do not work.

Have you tried 'num-exp' ? Like if your local area code was 513:
num-exp 9513....... 513.......

A translation rule would look like:

voice translation-rule 1

Rule 1 /9513/ /513/
