Hi All,
I have the following problem and would really appreciate any help you could
give. I have contacted Sonic Wall who make the firewall product and they
have not got back to me in over a week! Not even an acknowledgement of the
now several emails I have sent them...grrrr.
problem below>>>>>>
We have recently arranged for a static IP address to enable us to manage our
mail better and more efficiently etc, but after making some configuration
changes to the SonicWall and the modem we have been experiencing some
problems.
When making the changes, we set a pinhole in the modem to accept SMTP mail
on port 25 both ways and also made that change in the SonicWall appliance,
although we also had to make a change on the Network Tab to Standard instead
of NAT Enabled, or else we do not get Mail?
We are losing our Internet connection to our Modem every 2 to 3 hours and
when we do we cannot even get passed the SonicWall to see or ping our
Modem/Router (Nokia M1122 ADSL). When this happens, if we reset the
SonicWall to NAT Enabled, our connection comes back.
But then with NAT Enabled we cannot get mail, so we again have to revert
back to Standard and all works OK for another couple of hours or so, and so
the process goes on.
Our questions are; Why when in NAT Enabled mode could we not get mail when
we changed to static IP and disabled POP connectors etc, but when in
Standard mode we can get everything OK?
Why does the SonicWall lose the connection to our ADSL Modem?
Our network layout is in the following order as follows..
10 Workstations
Switch
Server
SonicWall
ADSL Modem
