I am new to LDAP and the person that supported the server has departed the company I work for. So I have the responsibility to replicate the Schema on another server and have no clue how to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

We are using Netscape Directory Server 4.1 on a windows NT server.

Thanks!

hello,

i use 3.1 on a unix platform and all i do is copy two config files from the source config directory to the target config directory...

the following are the two files:

slapd.user_at.conf
slapd.user_oc.conf

try to find the netscape software package and get the admin guide file found in the cd... trust me this will help...

if you need to sync the data as well, let me know...

hope this helps,
q.

qyllr,

Thank you very much for the information. I copied the files you mentioned to the new ldap server and the scheme was duplicated.

If you do not mind can you give me an idea on how to extract the data from our old ldap server and import it into the new server I just built? Note that the backup Directory Server task on the current ldap server errors when I run it with an unexpected error.

Thanks,

Pemad

hello,

please note that i have a unix platform:

i do the following on the command line:

1. run the db2bak utility to backup the file.
2. compress the directory generated by db2bak.
3. copy the directory to the target server.
4. uncompress the directory.
5. run the bak2db utility to restore the LDAP backup to the target server.

if this does not work for you... you need to create an ldif file using the ldif utilities... you are going to have to consult with your manual to execute this...

hth,
