need help with php mysql db - intern left with no warning

I have an inventory database that we use to maintain customer inventory. Part of that process involves barcodes and styles of different furniture. Our intern knew PHP and wrote to code, and got sick and hasn't been back to work in 3 months.

I know enough to be dangerous, but am no where near ready to adjust a few things he did incorrectly. Does anyone have a little time to dig me out of this hole?

I need someone to help me adjust the code so that when an item is put on hold, and then released, it goes back to where it came from, not the first location it finds in the inventory.
