Need help with modifying master shape

I copied and pasted a shape that i want to modify in my stencil. After i edit the copy and drag it to a page the shape has a rectangular box around the shape. using the behavior option i change the shape to a 1-d and uncheck the show alignment option the rectangle does not show but i still see 4 green boxes - top, bottom, right side, and left side.
I know there is some other option that i need to check/uncheck but do not know which one.
