Need help with ip and domain for apache please

Hi Everyone,
I configured my apache and when I do type my domain name on the browser it turns into an ip address instead and my site shows up anyway, is that normal since iam hosting from my own computer or need any thing in the configuration file.
Am running apache 1.3.27 and windows professional.
I do really appreciate your help.

Make sure you have a ServerName directive in your httpd.conf. You may also want a ServerAlias

I still have the same problem, and once i put my domain in the browser it turns to an ip address , the site will show but i want people to know the domain not the ip?
can any one help with that please it really drives me nuts!

Did you stop and restart apache after you made the change? Smah has it correct, you need to specify the ServerName directive in the httpd.conf and restart the service.

I did but guess same thing again please help me with that it drives me crazy
