We are trying to run a stored procedure from a intranet web site using the xp_sqlagent_proxy_account for the necessary permissions to do so. The proxy user we are using is the Sql Agent. So this user should have every necessary right and permission to run the stored procedure. The problem is that the code returns an error stating that it cannot find the job. The job exists and can be run normally.

Any help in getting this resolved will be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure why you are trying to run a stored proc from a web site using the xp_sqlagent_proxy_account. Why not just give the account that is logging into the database rights to run the procedure?

Denny,

It's my understanding that the SQL server is going to use the login account through active directory to run the proc. We don't want to give the users that kind of system level access to run the SP.

The SQL Server will use what ever account the web server uses to log into the server to run the proc. If it uses an AD account to log in, it will use that AD Account to run the proc. If it logs in via a SQL Account it will use the SQL Account.

If you want it to use a SQL Account to connect, setup an account for it, and tell the connection string that the web page uses to connect to use the SQL Account.
