Hi,

Can someone please help me with group policy standardization at different branches of the same company?

I just started learning how to work with group policy, and at work I was given an assignment to standardize group policies at multiple locations of the same company.

There is one company that has four different locations/branches across four cities. Three out of four of the locations have Windows Server 2003 as Domain Controller. The fourth one is Windows Server 2008.

I need to standardize group policy in all four of those locations. The following rules should be set:

(1) Users should not be allowed to shut down workstations
(2) Users should not be allowed to save files to local desktop (but allowed to save to a file server)
(2.a) Nothing local, workstations should be fully replaceable
(3) User should not be allowed to install programs
(4) Requirement for passwords
(5) Requirement for password reset

So I have 2 questions at this point:

(1) How do I set those rules in group policy on the domain controller?
(2) Once I do set those rules at one location, can I somehow copy the group policy and paste it to 3 other locations? Will it work?

Thank you very much in advance for your help!

i am not an expert on AD but we took the decision to acheive the same by creating differetn OU with different group policy. You can place the users of different location in respective OU. About policy you can ask AD expert.
