We're running AIX 4.1 on a RS6000 machine as part of a primarly Windows enviroment. As it currently stands we FTP our files to an internal site thats mirrored externally so that the files can be obtained by our clients.

We would like to get the files direct to their locations. I could have sworn I saw something somewhere about needing a relay in the host file but I can't seem to find any info now. From the AIX box, I just can't seem to ping any external addresses, only internal.

Is it possible to FTP to external IP addresses? and if so How do I set it up?

Thanks. Gamesman

Hi,
you have to add route to external net. Some of host in your
internal net must have two network adapters, one for internal net and another for external net. This host you have to use as gateway between nets (it IP address in internal net is Gateway parameter in route command).
