Need help with finding tutorials.

I need help finding Visual C++ tutorials for creating graphics display programs. At the least I want it to display .bmps, but I'd also like for it to display .gifs and .jpgs. Also, I'm on a rather outdated machine, so I could also use links to the required utilities, if possible.
