Need help with Excel 2007 chart

I created a bar chart from a table in Excel. The horizontal axis is months, and the vertical axis is the dollar amount. I then wanted to change the labels of the bars, so I clicked on the "data labels" option under the layout tab. However, when I made the changes it only made it to one selected label instead of all. I kept trying different ways to select them all with no luck. If I select the chart first or the axis first, as soon as I go into data labels dialogue box it selects just the one label. Please help!

It should work the you describe it. I hope you are not double click the column. (Seems like you have a column chart and not a bar chart).

I think you are right, I did a column, not a bar chart. I also found a couple of other things I did wrong in selecting the data. It works well now. Thanks!
