my isp has dynamic ip adressing and i need to access files from my pc when i´m not home, i´ve tried with apache and service, but i still can´t access, any idea what´s happening?
besides, i don´t know if it´s normal, but detects my ip as 200.34.142.97, but when i do a ipconfig command in the console it´ll show my ip as 10.11.1.131
if it´s any help, i´m running apache under windows xp

Hi mate,

You may not be able to do this.

Your ISP may route all connections through a proxy and then there may only be one IP sent out to the internet and this would be the same for all of that ISP's customers.

If this is the case, then I'm afraid there is nothing you can do other than to get your own static IP.

Hope this helps Wullie

sometimes your ISP will block port 80 (http port) which is the one web servers listen to by default. You can download a port scanner for free from and see what ports are open or closed. If port 80 is blocked then try another port like 8080 or something. You'll have to edit httpd.conf to bind to that port or what ever port no-ip gives you and listen for all ip addresses on that port. to see if apache is running, type localhost:8080 (or port number if not 80) in your browser and the default test page should come up. If not apache is not configured correctly. If your ISP is using NAT then the world will see a different number than your machine does that is why no-ip is reporting a different address. It should still be able to find you.
