I have a new 5.2 system that I need to set up a print que on. I work my way thru smit and pick "add a print que". The system then asks me what type of printer I want to add. I choose HPJetDirect. The system tells me I dont have the necessary software installed and to hit enter if I want to install it.

So... I mount the cd, go back and hit enter. The system finds and installs the printer.rte subset. Install completes successfully. I go back and try to add a print que of type HPJetdirect and the system tells me I dont have the necessary software installed.

What have I missed? What specific subsets do I need?

Any/all help appreciated.

Reinstall and make sure you commit the software.

The software has been re-installed and committed - several times. System still insists that the necessary software is not installed.

Do you have the printers.hplj.* fileset installed? printer.rte is just the backend for printing that is required for all printers. You need to get the jetdirect drivers installed as well. They also should be on your installation CD.

After further investigations, I found that while the "printers" subset was installed, it really wanted "printers.hp". All needed software for printing has now been installed.

thanks to all who responded.
