I received a SQL 7 database from another office that I need to restore to one of our SQL 7 servers. When attempting to restore the database, I receive the following error message:

The database you are attempting to restore was backed up under a different Unicode locale ID or Unicode comparison style than the Unicode locale ID or Unicode comparison style currently running on this server. Backup or restore operation terminating abnormally.

Does anyone know what this means? Please help!

It probably means the COLLATION setting for your SQL Server is different than the one on the original SQL Server.

Check the BOL, use the Index tab and enter COLLATION, changing.

I think you will find the information there. You might have to create a database with the proper collation and then use the restore option to overwrite an existing database.
