I have the HP laserjet 2840, and I have Vonage phone service, so I have three things that I need to change on my settings.

One I have to change my overseas setting to On. Two I need to have it set on Real Time faxing. Then Third I need to change my modem speed from 33.6 kbps to 2900. If anyone at all can help me that would be great.

I can't send or recieve faxes until these settings are changed. I have called Vonage and been on the phoen for over 3 hours. HP customer service is closed.

Also can someone tell if this fax machine is digital all the time, or is it only if I use PC Faxing? Vonage is digital and my faxing has to be digital as well.

Thanks,
smchick

The fax device in your printer only supports a pure analog phone line like any other HP All-In-One printer with a fax device.
If you have it connected to a digital line like ISDN, PBX DSL system, VoIP or similar it might not work and is not supported either.
The fax device in your printer is a digtal class 3 fax. designed to operate with speeds below 64 kbit/s however the max. supported speed is 33.6 the V.34bis standard.
Did you contact Vonage and ask them to try and change the packetization level to 10 ? For some customers this has worked with their faxes but it's not guaranteed to work.
Else you can try and make a post at the vonage forum and see if somebody there has a few hints to make it work.
