I did window update and the system was crashed. I got this message: "Windows Could Not Start Because the Following File Is Missing or Corrupt: \Winnt\System32\Config\Systemced".

I renamed "system32\config\system to system.old
I renamed "system32\config\system.alt to systemalt.old

Reboot the system, but still not good.

Then, I copy c:\winnt\repair\system to c:\winnt\system32\config

I reboot the system and i got a message like system is NTFS and I got the screen as redo the window operation system after I restart it again.

I shut the machine off because I do not want to reformat the system. I have many files in my hard drive.

Any method to save my computer?

Thanks.

That almost sounds like bad ram corrupting the drive and registry. Have you tested your ram yet?

If not use memtest below with only one stick of ram in the computer at each test.
