Please help!! I am new to this site, and also new to website design. I am working on a site, that views perfectly fine in IE5 w/o any error msgs anywhere. However, I am being told that in NN, they are getting 400 error messages, as well as broken pic links on the "/pggu.html" page. Can anyone provide advice? Also, another VERY strange thing. Sometimes when you type in the site address and use the '.' on the number keypad it will bring up a website about 'Microsoft Information Server.' ????? How can this be? If you type the address in using the normal '.' on the keyboard, no problems at all. Any help is greatly appreciated!

My suggestion is to work with Netscape first - then convert to Internet Explorer - much easier, since NN is the anal one. I know this is not going to help now, but you will no for the future!

I'm afraid you are going to have to go thru the whole site and make sure of its compatibility - It makes it harder when you don't do it from the beginning, but these things happen! Most problems occur with styles, positioning, and HTML setup.

Good news though Netscape 6 is on its way - with almost total compatibility, but for now we still must allow for versions below it.

Start with the first error... -Bj. "Alright whatever man, I'll hook up the hair, but I aint touchin the ring...Cause I'm still a pla--yer"

The problem with the broken image might be the space in the file name - try renaming the image and the link. Oh, while you're at it you might like to reduce the size of the image files themselves - one of the GIFS on you page is 190k! This takes a long time to download and will put viewers off your site. The reason it is so big is that the image size is actually 640x480 and you are resizing it to 100x200 in the browser. Always resize the image to the exact size you want it in photoshop or similar.

As for the NN errors Frontpage express is a Microsoft product and doesn't produce reliable cross-browser code. Although this doesn't seem to be the problem that you are talking about - I looked in NN4.7 and couldn't really find the problem - don't really know where to look! Give some more details.

good luck

I viewed your page with NN 4.7 and couldn't get anything to load. I copied your code into my code validator and found teh following errors.

You use " marks a lot in the text on your page which should be replaced with " as the proper HTML code for the quote marks. This might not effect your page in IE but it can make major problems with netscape. IE is more designer friendly and will allow you to make mistakes where NN is not forgiving. Try changing them and see what happens. Also, on some of your lines of code where you specify fonts, the fonts span two lines (the browser is reading the quotes on these spans as quotes and it shouldn't be) try not spanning two lines with fonts or try using cascading style sheets to specify font properties.
