Hi,

I am on the "Feature Selection" screen, which is where you end up if you click "Advanced"

I need to change the installation path so that my system databases are on the D drive, not the default c:\program files.

However, what about Reporting Services, Notification Services, Integration services, and client tools??? Should these remain on the C drive?

I just don't want any databases on the C drive.

I also need the LOG files of the system databases to go on the E drive, not on the D drive.

Is there a way to do this???

THANKS

I too had this problem, Unfortunately I had to install to C drive, I could find no way to change this.

You can select the location of the data files under Database Engine, I believe it's called.

But you still can't separate out the log files from the data files... however I don't know if you even need to do this since you never apply log files for master or msdb in recovery, if I recall correctly....

You can't seperate out the log files during install.

There isn't really any reason to seperate out the log files of the system databases as there should be only minimal queries going to the system databases. All system databases are in simple recovery so the logs shouldn't ever grow much beyond the default sizes.

Yes.

I realized this... it's been so long since I did the last install of 2005, I overlooked some things

I wish the installer would make it more obvious, DO NOT create your own file directory structure for your system db's... otherwise you end up with layer upon layer of folders, which is quite ugly, and have to reinstall - argghh
