Hi,

A friend has received a backup of an Oracle Data Base. A mailing list data base. He needs help moving it to another application. The problem is that it is not a dmp file. While the data may have come from Oracle it is layed out in 4 files.

The Files have the extension of .DS2, .LBL .IND and.DAT

Is anyone familiar with these extensions and how to extract the information??

Thanks in Advance

You'll have to talk to the orginal DBA and get a .dmp from an export. I don't think it's possible to get the database running without the control file(s) and an (at least reasonable) initSID.ora file. Mike

Email welcome if you're in a hurry or something -- but post in tek-tips as well please, and I will post my reply here as well.

Normally dat file contains export/import scenario (parfile). Check it for some useful information.
