NEED HELP sharing files over VPN? 1

I have 2 XP Pro PC's (no other networks or computers attached) set up on VPN using 2 Linksys BEFVP41 VPN Routers. Everything is working as far as I can tell since the Status shows "CONNECTED" except I cannot see the shared drives from either end of the VPN. I know this is probably a redundant question but I am new to the VPN game. Can someone please suggest a solution.

Can you ping one of the XP machines from the other,either by IP address or name?

If by IP address and not by name, then could look at a LMHosts/Hosts file. If by both, then are both XPs using the same Workgroup/Domain name?

I am not a XP user, but I would try the ping first just to make sure that you are actually connecting the two machines.
