I use the Merak Email Server, I have setup an mx record at my domain registrar using mydomain.us, mail can get sent and recieved successfully using this domain name, but I would like to be able to use pop3.mydomain.us and smtp.mydomain.us as pop3 and smtp server names respectfully, so that users can enter the pop3 and smtp names into their email clients, instead of just mydomain.us, how is this done?

I use mydomain.us as the email servers host name.

is your web server is the same box as your email server ? same IP address ?

either way, you need to create two new A records with these names, the one with the pop3 ,and smtp

yes, they have the same ip address via a free dns service, even though my domain registrar has options for editing the zone file, I have no idea how to set it up without using a 3rd party dns service and forwading my sub-domain to them, E.G. supposing I have an account at dyndns.org using host name myhost.gotdns.org, this name holds my ip address, then in the sub-domain creation (or A record) of my domain registrar, I enter pop3.mydomain.com, then the forwarding http as which would create the A record, which means that anybody that types or into IE would get my webserver home page, and not a 'page not found' error.

What I need is someone to set up the zone file for me, I even asked my registrars support team to help if I gave them the relevant info, to set it up for me, but they flatly refused, saying that I would have to set it up myself.

If someone has remote assistance, and would like to help me do this, please email me, and I'll send the request.

I don't know if posting email address is allowed.
