Hello I have downloaded a file a PHP forum and I am having problems installing it.

When I run the install.php file from a Browser I encounter these instaructions:

Server Root
The path on the server where the browseable files of the forum (*.php) will be stored.

Forum Data Root
The path on the server where the NON-browseable files of the forum will be stored.

Forum This is the URL of your forum, and should point to the forum's front page. This is also the URL people will need to use to get to your forum

What do I put for Server Root and Forum Root Data ?

The web site I have signed up for is:

No matter what I put for Server root and Forum Root Data the system tells me that the path does not exist!

So can anyone with experience tell me or guide me through this.

Yours Respectfully

Hi Avin,
I'm not too familiar with these free tripod-type sites.
But on a normal shared hosting account your ISP would give you the 'server root' which would be something like:
/home/yoursite/html/forums/ OR
maybe in your case...
/home/lycos/html/yoursite/forums/

And 'Forum Data Root'
Depends on the docs
It could be the server root outside and adjacent your forums folder...
/home/lycos/html/yoursite/docs/ OR
within the forums folder...
/home/lycos/html/yoursite/forums/docs/
It could be the URL
You'll have to have a look at the documentation of the script. Check their web site, maybe there is a forums section to get answers.

Hope this helps

Later, Skater
