Need help resetting StarTalk password

Hello All,

I tried searching on help on resetting our Startalk password.

I can F983 but the 1020000 password is invalid.
I tried 120000, 1020000, and 10020000 without success.
I enter the password and press the OK softkey and the display changes to EXIT and after a second the display returns to the default system time display.

I tried F985, to reset the password as suggested in the FAQs, but I get Inactive Feature. All other Feature codes are invalid as well(F981, F986 etc)
I can however dial into the VM dn and get the expected display and voice response asking for my password, but again, the default combo doesnt work.

My system specs are:
CICS Rel 03 with 4.1 S/W
Norstar StarTalk Flash 2CH Rel 01A with Flash VM 2.0.10
3-digit DNs

Is there any other way to force a password reset? software or hardware?

Oliverh:

Do a feature 985, press 9, than dial resetsmpswd (73738767793). This will reset password.

I tried this as suggested by many other users here (and in the FAQs) however I CANNOT access Feature 985...it responds with INACTIVE FEATURE.

I set the range already and if I try it again, it shows me its already F983. I can only access F983 but the 1020000 password does not work. (I have 3-digit DNs)

Incidentally, I tried CONFIG (266344) as the F983 password and a SN was displayed (new to me). I pressed the OK softkey and I was asked for a KEY. Is this related? What is this option? How do I get the key?

Not sure about the key thing. Can you just okay through it. I usually enter f903 than f983 than 266344 than okay through everything and I'm all set.

Hello Nortellian,

I tried to do another F903, but its an unactive feature too.
I read on another posting here that F903 disables itself after you set the range.

I can do a F9*3 and it confirms the SYS ADMIN as F983.

No luck, sorry. Is there a hardware reset?

If config worked as a password then your system was either new or the programming got wiped out - happens sometimes.

Now that you have used the password config, you can now use the password 1020000 to get into system administration

Hello again,

When I entered CONFIG (266344) as the F983 password the LCD displayed SN:1873106081692 and a softkey labelled OK. So I pressed OK. The next prompt is for a KEY (which I dont have)
The CONFIG password did not allow me into the VM, just the opportunity to enter this mysterious KEY. I tried all password combinations I could think of as the key, including CONFIG, RESETSMPSWD, etc.

I can dial into the VM (currently port 228) and the mailbox prompt is displayed along with the expected voice coaching.
Since I dont have a password nor mailbox right now, this does me no good.
I tried F903...Invalid Feature...but OK since F983 works and I read that this feature disables itself.
I tried F985 (to reset the password)...Invalid Feature.
I tried F981...Invalid Feature.
I CAN do a F983 and the expected prompt is displayed but the password 1020000 is invalid. I tried 120000, 10020000 as well.

Anything else I can try? Does anyone know anything about the KEY? My version numbers are listed above in an earlier post.

If it was a snake it would of but you when the KEY prompt pops up just press OK the KEY is only if you want to add more features ACD and such.

Go back in using F983 type config (266344) press ok then ok again it will ask you a few more quesionts such as LANGUAGE, GROUP LIST, cant remeber the rest but you get the point

Now the warning I dont know if this will reset the system meaning Menu prompts or Vamil boxes I do know it has to be done. You only have to use this method in 2 situation 1 on install 2 on upgrade. and thats all I know Good Luck

I never tried just pressing OK, I just kept trying different combinations. Duh...
