I installed a VooDoo3 2000 PCI graphics card. It has been assigned an IRQ of "11", which is what my PCI modem was already using. Now the modem doesn't work. I have tried to change both of them, but I can't. I went to the "Resources" tab under Device Manager. It tells me that the setting can't be changed. I did un-check the "Use Automatic settings" box.
Any suggestions?
PCI IRQs are setup within the PC's BIOS. More than likely you have your PCI slots setup in the BIOS for automatic IRQ assignments.
Here is how I would attack the problem: Within 98, remove the VooDoo and modem devices from Device Manager. Shutdown the computer and go into the BIOS (depending on the system its DEL or F1 or F2, there should be a message saying something like "Hit F1 to enter Setup"). Unfortunately all BIOS are a little different, but look for something along the lines of PCI setup, Peripherial Devices -- you should beable to find where the PCI slots are setup as "auto". Reassign the slots a specific IRQ (usually 9 or greater), make sure you save your setup, then boot to 98.
98 should pickup the new devices and if there is another PCI device who's IRQ changed, it should pick that up also. You'll probably have to reset you modem in Control Panel ¦ Modem.

Also, go into Device Manager and make sure everything got detected proterly and you have no rex X's or Yellow !.
Hope this helps,
