We have an MS exchange server. ALL mail clients are running Outlook 2000. We have the users outlook setup to use Personal Folders as their primary delivery box. The issue is that messages are either not going from the exchange mailbox to the local personal folders mailbox OR in some cases it takes FOREVER!! to download to the personal folder.
Is ther a way to edit the registery to set the recieve time to check every minute? James Collins

I've just asked our email admin. He says that you should be receiving your mail right away; it's not like at home where it checks the server every XX minutes. However, I'd like to remind you that when you have something delivered to personal folders, it's copying it from the mail server to another location. When something is delivered to an inbox, it is simply viewed in your Outlook, and not copied to a different server--make sense? Of course it's going to take longer. The size of attachments being received also affects the timing.

If, however, your users are dialing in, that's a different story. Perhaps it would help if you use Tools-Synchronize, and have it synch on exit of Outlook. That way, the time would be involved AFTER they've finished with their email business, rather than before. Brainbench MVP for Microsoft Word

Dreamboat thanks for your input. The issue is not timing but the fact that they are not comeing over at all. They (messages) just sit on the server in the users mailbox. It should be automatic yes. Its just not hapening. Any insight? Anyone? James Collins

Well, there are a few things then...

Has something changed or is this the first setup?
Have you tried recreating profiles?
Do their inboxes exceed the amount allowed by the server?
Can you directly copy from the inbox to the personal folders?
Are the personal folders (*.pst) stored on a network or hard drive, and were they created via Tools-Services?
Did you check to ensure they have write permissions to the location of the personal folders?
Does ANYONE'S mail download properly or is everyone messed up?
If someone is working okay, what happens when another user logs into that PC? Is it okay or ng? Brainbench MVP for Microsoft Word

Did you check the "delivery" tab on the mailbox properties? That should be set to either deliver to your PST or your Server account!

Delivery is ok. We have been changing ou tPCs and then copying back the .pst files. Now I have not tried to archive the old data and then recreate the personal folder. I will discuss this with higher and see what they think. Any one else have any ideas??? James Collins

Now I don't know if this will help, but there is an .exe called SCANPST that repairs corrupt .PST files.
Let me know if I'm talking out my A** DEC

It is a hidden system file, so make sure you have 'view all files' etc switched on. Try looking in C:\program files\common files\Mapi\1033..........

What OS are you running? DEC

Butchrecon, there is also a SCANOST.EXE which repairs Offline folders (I think), same sort of thing as SCANPST.EXE.
Again I'm clutching at straws for you. DEC
